Iligan police beef up security for Holy Week

MORE police officers were assigned to guard crowded places in Iligan City during Holy Week.

Police Supt. Roland C. Batolan, deputy city director for administration, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro Wednesday that Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams were assigned to guard bus terminals, churches and public markets.

"The PNP personnel have been deployed in different parts of the city in coordination with the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, the K-9 team, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and the other responders in cases of emergency," Batolan said.

Batolan did not say if the intensified security was in response to a specific security threat.
