THE Cities of Bacolod and San Juan, Metro Manila have now formalized their "sisterhood" following the signing of the sisterhood agreement between Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez.
The agreement was signed in the presence of San Juan Representative Joseph Victor Ejercito, Mayor Gomez's only son, and Bacolod Councilor Homer Bais, chairman of the City Council Committee on Tourism.
The signing of the sister city pact was held at the Government center Thursday.
Councilors Bais and Em Ang sponsored the resolution, which eventually gained the City Council's approval that led to the sisterhood relationship between the two cities.
The City of San Juan, Metro Manila passed Resolution No. 49, Series of 2010 relative to the sisterhood relations with Bacolod City.
These two highly urbanized cities aim to promote and establish strong friendship, good will and special mutual understanding among its neighboring cities, through a sisterhood relationship that will benefit the sister cities in terms of its economic and community development for good of its constituents.
Both cities have remarkable achievements with impact to science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, urban planning and development, trade, commerce and industry, sports development, environment protection, education and public health and social services, which will enable the sister cities to compliment each other, with primary aim to develop its policies and programs for the betterment of its people.
