MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III will let the Department of Justice (DOJ) to decide on the fate of the jewelry collection of former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Communications Development and Strategic Planning Secretary Ricky Carandang said Friday that the disposition of the jewelry is under the jurisdiction of the DOJ.
“I think that decision will be left to Justice Secretary Leila De Lima who has jurisdiction over the Presidential Commission on Good Government. So, let’s wait for her to make decision on that,” he said.
PCGG has urged President Aquino to auction the jewelries of Marcos instead of keeping it.
It has been under the custody of the government for more than two decades now. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
