2 men shot in Davao

MILITARY and police checkpoints all over Davao City to boost security measures for the Kadayawan Festival were not enough to stop those out to create trouble, as two men were shot in separate incidents recently.

The first victim, identified as Renato Tan Reyes, 48, a resident of No. 72, Almond Drive, Phase 7, Ecoland, was shot at by armed men around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The second victim, identified as Alvin Herbosho, 23, a resident of San Jose, Ipil Beach, was shot around 5 p.m. Friday in Ipil Beach, Barangay Duterte.

Police Officer (PO) 2 Cirilo Flores of the Talomo Police Station said Reyes was waiting for a passenger jeepney in front of the Indonesian School in Ecoland when a man riding in tandem on a motorcycle shot him four times in the chest.

Reyes was brought to the Davao Doctors Hospital.

Authorities found three empty shells and one slug of a caliber .45 gun at the crime scene.

Herbosho, on the other hand, was shot by a man onboard a motorcycle outside his home on Friday. The victim was hit in the head and right arm and was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

Senior Inspector Ranulfo Cabañog, chief of the Sta. Ana police station, identified the suspect as Merjohn Roy Nangsoy, 20, a resident of Awhag Village, Barangay 19-B Poblacion.

The suspect is now the subject of manhunt operations. (AD)
