FASHIONISTAS all over the metro celebrated the second year of "Us Girls August Awards 2010" Thursday evening at the Icon Bar of Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.
The awards night was hosted by "Us Girls" resident fashionistas Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Iya Villania, and Angel Aquino.
The event recognized the outstanding contributions of men and women in fashion, health, beauty, and lifestyle.
For the first set of awards, Mickey See, Lourd Ramos, and Claire Diokno were named as the Make-up Artists of the Year.
The three were present during the event and thanked "Us Girls" and all the online fans who voted for them.
For the Stylist of the Year category, only Alyanna Martinez was able to accept her trophy since Kat Cruz and Angela Alarcon were not able to attend the event.
For the Face of the Year (teen) category, Andi Eigenmann and Erich Gonzales emerged as the winners along with Empress Schuck and Jessie Mendiola.
Kristine Hermosa with soon-to-be husband Oyo Sotto arrived when the Face of the Year 20's category winners was announced.
The young actress won in the said category with co-Kapamilya star Kim Chiu who was still in the United States for her world tour.
Though Kim was not able to attend the event, she made sure to send a video presentation thanking the "Us Girls" staff and her fan base for voting for her online.
Five were named the Best Dressed namely Georgina Wilson, Mai Kaufman, Iza Calzado, Anne Curtis, and Kelly Misa.
It was only Mai and Kelly who were able to receive their gilded mirror trophy and thanked everyone who supported them.
When Sun.Star asked Kelly on her reaction, she was still shock knowing that people noticed her effort to look good everyday while she's still working with "Wowowee".
"It's nice to know naman diba na napansin din nila kasi it is really a bit difficult to think of new designs na isusuot everyday for the rest of the week, kaya thank you sa mga naka gusto," she said.
"Icon" trophy recipient Angel Locsin who was wearing a Patrick Galang black ensemble with leopard Christian Louboutin pumps and styled by Puey Quinones also graced the awards night.
Angel shared to the entertainment press that it was Iya who texted her and invited her to join in the celebration.
She is overwhelmed by the recognition given to her.
“Nagulat talaga ako and I'm very thankful to everyone kasi ako naman yung tao na hindi masyadong ma porma and simple lang talaga, and nakita nila yun. Thank you,” she said.
Angel was not only recognized for her looks but also her advocacies to help her fellow Filipinos.
