Mariel chooses love over career for now

AFTERNOON showbiz show "Entertainment Live" finally aired the canned interview of Bianca Gonzales with the controversial “Pilipinas, Win na Win” host Mariel Rodriguez.

Mariel said she took an indefinite leave, but cleared that the vacation was not just a spur of the moment decision.

The TV host-actress asked the network for a two-week break even during the now defunct noontime show "Wowowee".

“Actually I've been asking for vacation sana yung first and second week of August. I tried but I was denied. Matagal ko na talagang balak magbakasyon.”

Mariel meatime is hopeful that the Filipino viewing public will still welcome her once she's back from her indefinite leave.

“Sana welcome parin ako. I'm taking a risk kasi hindi ko alam kung anong babalikan ko, sana makabalik pa ako sa ginagawa ko but I'm really happy."

Mariel also answered all the questions about her and Robin Padilla.

Robin as a father

On the statement of Robin’s wife Liezel Sycangco that the actor has no more time for their kids, Mariel said she saw how Robin takes care of their son Ali.

Mariel admitted that he even asked Robin if she needs to give him space so that issues of him being an irresponsible father would die down.

“He told me just stay and yung problem nya with Ms. Liezel (Sycangco, ex-wife of Robin) is just between the two of them,” she said.

Mariel also cleared that she is not pregnant and that she needs some time to relax away from home.

Her personal dream

When Bianca asked her if she is ready for the consequences especially that it is her dream that she's leaving behind Manila, Mariel answered: “Mas matimbang talaga yung personal dream ko. I do not regret the decision I made. Finally I will do something for myself."

She said that Boy Abunda, her manager, told her that if she'll push through with everything, they need to be responsible for all their actions.

She however believed that Robin will never be a hindrance in her television career because the actor is very respectful with her work.

Mariel meanwhile confirmed she will be with Robin, but was quick to add that their free time wasn't planned instead everything just fall perfectly together.

“He's going to be there - Robin - kasi pumerfect yung timing. I don't know if its destiny kasi hindi plan lahat".

When asked if wedding bells will soon be heard, Mariel paused for a while before saying that at this point she doesn't know where life will take her.

But she promised that if something come-up during her out of the country trip, they will most definitely share it with everybody.

It can be remembered that Robin himself promised not to hide the truth if the two of them decides to tie the knot.

Religion not an issue

Considering that they have different religions, Mariel said this has never been an issue between the two of them.

She also maintained she has no plans to change her religion. Robin is a believer of Islam while Mariel is a Catholic.

With all that is happening in her personal life, Mariel is thankful to her family for their love and understanding.

“Hindi sila nagkukulang sa pagpapaalala sa akin na to take it slow, take it easy.”

Mariel said she's very happy now and cannot take any more heartache in life. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
