MANILA -- The Philippines gets its fair share in the Southeast Asian Swimming Federation with the election of five Filipinos in the regional body over the weekend.

Philippine Amateur Swimming Association president Mark Joseph was elected as secretary-general of the body while the following were designated to the following committees: Ral Rosario (swimming), Luisito Mangahis (water polo), Marie Dimanchi (diving) and Reina Suarez (synchronized swimming).

"I'm pleased to share this news. This is all in line with our long-term development plan for Philippine swimming," said Joseph.

"Personally and on behalf of the Pasa family, we accept this as an opportunity to work harder for our respective sports and to improve the standard of Southeast Asia in continental and world aquatics," he added.

Joseph is currently in Singapore to head the nine-man contingent for the first Youth Olympic Games. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
