DTI holds consultation on biz name processing

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection (BTRCP), will conduct a free public consultation relative to the amendments of the Business Name Law at 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City.

The BTRCP has already drafted the Department Administrative Order (DAO) entitled "Further Amending the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 3883, otherwise known as the Business Name Law."

This will allow the accomplishment of business name registration within 15 minutes.

Lawyer Lucky Siegfred M. Balleque, head of DTI's investment and business name registration arm, the National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (Nerbac) Davao, said the public hearing will give the local business sector and other stakeholders the chance to share their inputs to the BN Law amendments.

"We highly recommend that every concerned Filipino will attend this consultation for them to know the amendments that will be made and how DTI will go about with the attainment of 15-minute business name processing time. This will be a landmark initiative of P-Noy administration," he said.

The amended DAO is intended to be operative by September 1 this year.
