Business confab set in Zambo

THE Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (ZCCIFI) is hosting the three-day 6th ZamPen (Zamboanga Peninsula) Business Conference in this southern port city.

The three-day business conference is set to be held at the Grand Astoria Hotel in downtown Zamboanga City starting Thursday and ends Saturday.

ZCCIFI president Pedro Rufo Soliven said the business conference which is themed “ZamPen Moving Forward As One,” aims to unite the business community of the region in a concerted effort to address local and regional issues crucial to the conduct of business.

The conference also seeks to identify and promote strategic advantages and richness of the area specifically in the field of agriculture, aquaculture, and tourism, Soliven said.

He said the three-day activity will be the grandest and the biggest business event in Zamboanga Peninsula as business people from different industries including local government officials will converge, unite, and explore the economic opportunities and business investments in and around the region.

Specifically, Soliven said it will highlight and promote the competitive advantages and investment opportunities of Zamboanga Peninsula; foster closer relations between and among businessmen in the area (complementing the strengths of one another); thereby, increasing opportunities for direct business and forging stronger business partnerships.

He said prominent government officials have been invited to grace and support the three-day business event as it aims, at the same time, establish strategic linkages between the government and private sectors.

He said the ZCCIFI is submitting resolutions enjoining appropriate local and National Government agencies to act and address major issues affecting the conduct of business in Zamboanga Peninsula.

He said the business conference is an annual regional event of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Industry-Mindanao for the different chambers under the jurisdiction of the Zamboanga Peninsula area.

However, due to Zamboanga City's proximity, other areas like Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi including Oroquieta and Ozamiz cities are part of this event.

Business people are enjoined to register and attend this important event to know better the business situation in the region, where and how to invest further in and around Zamboanga Peninsula, Soliven said. (Bong Garcia)
