DPWH drafts plans for Bokawkan flyover

ANOTHER flyover project is now being planned by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Baguio District Engineer's Office.

Baguio District Engineer Ireneo Gallato said he was already given the go signal by DPWH Undersecretary for Luzon Romeo Momo to conduct a feasibility study of a flyover in Buhagan (formerly Bokawkan) Road.

Last week, Rep. Bernardo Vergara announced the project will be part of his priority Development Assistance Fund project for 2012.

Gallato said his team and their counterparts at the DPWH central office are already surveying the area for the flyover.

He said, once this will be completed, traffic in the chokepoint will be eased.

If the project will push through, Gallato said this will be the third flyover project in the Summer Capital.

In the past years, many motorists have been complaining of the traffic in the narrow streets of the city.

Gallato said there can be no space left for the widening of roads in the city as it already reached its limits.

However, the DPWH, he said has been doing its best in providing other alternate roads like the circumferential road project and maintaining them for the use by commuters.(JM Agreda)
