Jai-alai bet collectors nabbed

FOUR alleged bet collectors of illegal numbers game jai-alai were nabbed Tuesday afternoon by elements of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Vice Squad and operatives of the Bacolod Public Safety Company.

The suspects were identified as Noel Lumogdang, 43, of 1st Road, Fortunetowne Subd., Barangay Estefania, Charlie Lozada, 24, of Homesite, Barangay Montevista, Christopher Deramas, 38, of Sulom 2, Barangay Villamonte, and Samuel Cabatua, 37, of Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

BCPO Vice Squad team leader SPO1 George Benjimino said that Lumogdang was a coordinator of jai-alai operation in Barangay Villamonte and was caught in the act of soliciting bet money in the area at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Recovered from Lomugdang were four jai-alai tipsters bearing the name "Dalisay", two tally sheets, two ballpens, P70 bet money and one betting stub.

BPSC team leader SPO1 Rommel Bacule also said that Lozada, Deramas, and Cabatua were caught in the act of collecting bet money at Magsaysay Street, Barangay Villamonte on Tuesday.

Recovered from the suspects were six tipsters with code name "Buenas", P62.25 bet money, three betting stubs and a ballpen.

Police Station 4 commander Police Chief Inspector Danilo Francisco stated that the four suspects are presently detained at the lock up cell of Police Station 4 prior to the filing of charges against them for violation of RA 9287.
