Aquino vows liability over hostage crisis (2:13 p.m.)

MANILA -- President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III assured that someone will be held accountable for the bloody hostage drama Monday that led to the death of eight innocent lives.

In a groundbreaking ceremony of two schools in Mandaluyong City, the President admitted that he is still in great despair over what happened during the bus hijacking staged by dismissed police officer Rolando Mendoza.

“What happened last Monday was tragic. There were really deficiencies. I guarantee you, that all flaws since that very night, that afternoon, have been attended to),” Aquino said in his speech.

He assured that heads will roll depending on the result of the investigation to be conducted by the Department of Justice and National Bureau of Investigation.

“That incident should not happen again. Especially the knowledge and aptitude should be present at that time. There have been incompetence and someone will be held liable,” he stressed.

The President said seeing the thousands of students from Rizal Technological University and Isagani Lopez Integrated School somehow ease the stress brought about by the hostage crisis. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
