City expands declogging operations

MAYOR Jed Patrick Mabilog ordered the continuous and expanded schedule of declogging operations of the drainage system in the barangays following requests from the residents.

Mabilog said the massive declogging operation is expected to augment city initiatives in cleaning the drainage pipes and other stagnant water in low-lying areas here using the two declogging trucks owned by the City Government.

The declogged esteros and drainage pipes will also discouraged disease carrying mosquitoes to breed.

The city mayor said declogging is an effective way to curtail the spread of diseases and at the same time, make the city clean especially during the rainy season.

John Inac, in-charge of the declogging operations, reported to the city mayor the schedule for the whole month of September 2010.

To be declogged are areas in South Fundidor, Molo; La Paz public plaza, Huervana Jereos Street, San Jose, Arevalo; Iloilo Central Market Vendors Association, CSWDO MH del Pilar, Molo, VML Subd., Fundidor Molo, Orchidsville Subdivision Sta Felomina, Arevalo, Barangay San Nicolas, La Paz, JD Bakeshop Quezon Delgado Mabini, Bank of Commerce at Iznart Solis street, as requested by City Councilor Rodel Fullon Agado to declog city markets and as advised by the city mayor, city administrator and city engineer to declog certain areas.

Mabilog also ask city residents and market vendors not to throw solid wastes indiscriminately.

Garbage trucks are assigned in specific area to collect the garbage and there is no reason for people to throw their wastes indiscriminately. (Lydia C. Pendon)
