The University of Baguio School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (UB-SIHTM) bagged numerous awards in UB’s 62nd Foundation Anniversary on August 5-7, 2010. SIHTM family actively participated in the series of activities in line with the said celebration.
UB’s 1st Freshmen Idol
In welcoming this year’s freshmen students, the Office of Student Affairs organized a talent search tagged “Freshmen Idol”. The activity served as an avenue for first year students to showcase their extraordinary talents and was held at the UB Cardinal’s Gym Aug. 5.
Billmark M. Amino, a BSHRM student, emerged champion and hailed as the first Freshmen Idol of the university. He wowed the jam-packed gym as he performed his electrifying dance number. Along with his victory, the School of Law Enforcement Administration contender ranked 1st runner-up and Jeden Sacpa also from SIHTM landed 2nd runner-up.
Amino bested more than 50 participants who joined the open mic auditions held at the Centennial Ground Floor Aug. 2 to 4.
SIHTM Pep Squad champs
Deafening cheers and amazing performances surrounded in the UB Cardinal’s Gym last Aug. 7 as the UB Intramurals opened.
Despite the short preparation, the SIHTM Pep Squad still reigned as they were announced champion in the much talked about cheerdance competition besting 9 other entries from different schools.
Truly, SIHTM students proved to be powerful dancers as they executed outstanding stunts and breath-taking moves.
Ms. UB Quest 2010
Aiming to promote the ideal image of the youth-beauty and wit, SIHTM student Tyla Rodriguez triumphed as she bagged the Ms UB 2010 1st runner-up held at the UB Cardinals’s Gym Aug. 6.
Rodriguez received a one-year scholarship with a 75 percent tuition waiver and will be featured in UB brochures and advertisements. She also grabbed this year’s Ms. Photogenic plum with the Prism Studio as the official press photography of the pageant.
Moreover, among the 38 hopefuls, Rodriguez ranked 1st in the screening last July 27. Aside from her, Joanna Marie Victorio, Kristine Tawil, Zhekeya Hiromi Naval and Dianen Pineda, all from the SIHTM, made it to the Top 18.
