Shilan seeks P500T for road construction

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Barangay Shilan here is asking improvements to a farm-to-market Road (FMR) in their area.

In a resolution by the local barangay council backed by local barangay chief Georgina Delmas in a joint resolution with the Barangays Development Council (BDC) is asking Mayor Greg Abalos to allocate P500,000 to improve the 500 meter FMR from Sabdang to Beto in Shilan.

Delmas said the project has been requested by the barangay since 1997 but was never given attention by local chief executives.

The barangay head said the project is vital for the improvement of the economy of the area and the project is listed as a priority.

The funding is being requested to be sourced from the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of La Trinidad.

“This will be sufficient to complete the project,” Delmas said.

The amount will be used to tire path the road; stone walling and gutter construction of the existing FMR which needs rehabilitation of the remaining portion of the unfinished road.

Delmas said “there are 80 household farmers from the two sitios in Sabdang and Balukas which will benefit and would surely elevate their economic life if this project is completed.”

The request has been forwarded to the local council and will be endorsed to Abalos. (Maria Elena Catajan)
