2 nabbed for stealing NLEx signage

MABALACAT --- Two persons were arrested after being suspected of stealing a signage from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) at the area of Barangay Sapang Biabas here.

The suspects were identified as Ejie Almoreda Clata, 20 and Ryan Clata Jose, 19, both residents of Camachiles resettlement site in said village.

Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said that Clata and Jose were reportedly caught by elements of the NLEx highway patrol while carting away the aluminum signage worth P14,000.

Mendoza said that the suspects were charged with theft before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Chief Inspector Jose Montero, Dau police commander said that the NLEx highway patrol sought the assistance of the local police when they apprehended the suspects.

Clata and Jose were with two other persons, Jaypee Morales and Ronnie Santomin, when they allegedly took away the signage. But Morales and Santomin were able to elude authorities, according to Montero.

Montero said similar charges were also filed against the two suspects who are still at large as of press time.

A bail of P10,000 was set for each of the four suspects. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
