VMO rallies past Philhealth

THE Vice Mayor's Office (VMO) came from behind to beat Philhealth, 93-81, in the Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Kadayawan sa Dabaw Commercial Class B Basketball Tournament Monday night at the Davao City Recreation Center.

With the win, VMO collected its second straight win through the heroics of Batoy Madera, Christopher "Bong" Go and Don Adormeo. Madera buried 20 points while Go and Adormeo added 18 and 17, respectively.

Bulky Eliazar "Buboy" Berami led Philhealth with 20 points and was supported by Eugene Sebua, who contributed 18 apiece in a losing cause. Philhealth dropped to 0-2.

Sanman, meanwhile, hacked out a thrilling 84-83 win over Ishihara to recover from its first game loss. Sanman leveled its record to 1-1 while Ishihara took its first loss.

Stun Apurada went on a shooting spree, drilling in 13 points of his 18 total output in the third canto to lift Sanman to victory. Jay Caba¤og scored 17 points while Epe Decena added 13.

Ishihira's Edgar Awitin and Jumabene Bulac combined for 30.

The tournament is presented by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). (MLSA)
