Inventory of bins, staff at Cenro ordered

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte ordered the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) to conduct an inventory on the city's garbage bins, personnel and to create a master plan.

Duterte on Monday ordered Cenro officer-in-charge Dominique Felizarta to conduct an inventory of said office's equipment and personnel as she said the office should be able to create a master plan to be disseminated for public awareness.

Duterte appointed Felizarta to the position a week ago, replacing Business Bureau chief Jhopee Avancena-Agustin, who was also temporarily appointed to the position under Duterte's order.

"Number one, I want a status report on the garbage collection, personnel equipment and how much. Number two, identify areas for the bins and number three, implementation," Duterte said in a press conference.

Duterte said Felizarta should create a master plan for designated areas for garbage bins as she said "what's being done now is not working."

"Dili na pwede, it will not work na 10 meters away naay basura unya 20 meters away naa napud. Kinahanglan naay master plan nga kita tanan kabalo asa gyud (that every 10 to 20 meters there are garbage bins. We need a master plan wherein all of all would know where exactly these garbage bins are)" Duterte said.

"Dapat naay mapa nga makabalo ang tanan nga 'ah diri nga spot ang basuraha'. Ang mga basurahan nga dili mag-move. Dapat naa gyuy designated area (It should be that all of us would know where exactly a garbage bin should be. The garbage bins should not move. It should have a designated area)" Duterte said.

Duterte added that "it would be a waste" of the people's money if the city's garbage is not handled well.

The mayor, however, did not specify when Felizarta should submit said master plan. (JCZ)
