POINT guard Francis Dave Guardiario and John Pajantoy scored the much-needed points to lift the the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors, 70-64, over the Don Bosco Technology College (DBTC) Baby Greywolves in the high school division of Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum yesterday.

Guardiario nailed two free throws and Pajantoy scored a jumper to douse the scorching end-game rampage of Jose Marlo Pono and seal USC’s second win.

Pono scored six points in the final minute as DBTC tried to steal the win from the Warriors.

Leading 19-13 early, USC suddenly went cold and the Baby Greywolves started to rally behind Pono and Samuel Isidore Escaño.

DBTC momentarily lost hold of the momentum as USC banked on Harvey Junn Palapar’s seven points for a six-point lead entering the final period.

However, DBTC pounded hard in the final quarter and played their best game but the better-prepared USC pulled through in the end to score its second win in five games.

DBTC is still winless in six games.

Palapar topscored for USC with 15 points, while Pono had 21.
