Government agencies hold investment confab

RECOGNIZING the economic potentials of agrarian reform communities (ARC) as viable investment sites in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have recently organized investment seminars on current investment opportunities in the region.

With the active support of DAR Regional Director Felix B. Aguhob and DTI Regional Director Alicia V. Eusenia, the agrarian reform beneficiaries, potential investors and local government unit representatives gathered together in a forum where business opportunities on different products, commodities and industries were presented by various resource persons from Cagayan de Oro and Manila.

Representatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Northern Mindanao, a partner agency in the activity, also gave inputs on agri-business.

Based on DTI and DA records, current investment opportunities in the region are on moringa, bamboo, banana, vegetable noodle processing, honeybee culture, coffee production, coco coir processing, cassava production and aquaculture.

Business matching and business consultations were also conducted during the seminar by representatives of several companies that include Nestlé, San Miguel Corporation, Secura International Corp., 33 Point 3 Exports, Coco Green Technologies and Crisbel Enterprises, among others.

So far, the above-mentioned investment seminars have already been conducted for the provinces of Misamis Oriental last May 21 this year, Misamis Occidental on July 30 and Bukidnon on August 12. (PR)
