LAST year's NOPSSCEA 10 under champion St. John's Institute and runner-up University of St. La Salle and eight other teams in the 1st Batang Scott's 10 and Under will have an extra week to prepare as organizers reset the opening on September 11 at Po Hang gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Joining SJI and BTTHS in bracket A are Sum-ag Elementary School, ETCS and Mabini ES. Bracket B has USLS, Trinity Christian School, Dona Corazon Locsin Memorial ES and St. Benilde School which replaced UNO-R.

Rizal ES, which begged off like UNO-R, was likewise replaced by Lopez Jaena Elementary School in last Tuesday's meeting presided by Commissioner Renato Bravo at McDonalds East.

Ryan Lio Tumbagahan, Assoc ASM-West Visayas of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Philippines said that teams have started their measurement with outfitter Nojs.

GSK, unlike other commercial endorsers, has recorded a first by having no registration required. The uniforms are free for all participants (15 members per team), GSK gift packs for parents, players, coaches and principals.

Other incentives include plaques of participation and medals of recognition for schools, teams, coaches and outstanding players in the conclusion of the tournament.

Scott's Emulsion, one of GSK's heritage brand has been in the market for about 130 years and still continue to share its product equity to its consumers. It was chosen by organizers as the product has cod liver oil, calcium and vitamins A & D which is beneficial for strong bone and teeth development.

The product will help kids build natural resistance to sickness and it is for healty brain development. The tournament is a way of reconnecting the brand to caring parents, said Tumbagahan who hails from Bacolod and a product of TCS.

Tournament format is round robin for two brackets with number 1 meeting number 4 and 2 going against 3 in the crossover semifinal. Losers play for third and winners dispute the championship. (Henry G. Doble)
