MANILA -- A party-list group representative disclosed that the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) officer-in-charge has received fat bonuses amounting to almost P6 million in the last two years of service.
According to the documents obtained by the office of Bagong Henerasyon Representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy from concerned MWSS employees, MWSS OIC Marca Cruz received a total of P5,956,900 in allowances, honoraria, financial assistance; and other perks such as privatization anniversary bonus and enhanced scholarship.
Based on the vouchers presented to the media by Herrera-Dy, Cruz received P4 million in 2009 alone, including a financial assistance of P300,000 and a car loan of P800,000.
Cruz also received four hefty productivity incentive bonuses from November to December 2009 amounting to P389,870.
From January to July 2010, Cruz has already collected a total of P1,523,130 in perks including scholarship allowances, medical reimbursements and a traditional anniversary bonus of P197,182.
Herrera-Dy noted that the documents were sent to her office after she filed House resolution 137 requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to create a Task Force to investigate the alleged mismanagement or abuses of MWSS officers. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
