SM City Pampanga to open Global Pinoy Center

SM SUPERMALLS knows the challenges of overseas Filipino workers, which are regarded as modern day heroes.

This is why the company is opening its Global Pinoy Center at SM City Pampanga on September 2 to have a hub specially made for the OFWs.

The GPC is a one-stop shop of services specifically tailored for the Global Pinoy and his family’s needs. The first ever center opened at SM Mall of Asia last December 10.

Members will enjoy the following services at the center:

-Info Services. The Global Pinoy member will have the convenience of getting updated and relevant information related to their career abroad with terminals with direct access to government employment agencies like POEA, OWWA, and DOLE making it easy for them to finish their paperwork ahead of time.

-BDO Remittances. The member’s family can pick up remittances at the center even on weekends and holidays, creating instant hassle-free transactions. Foreign Exchange is also available for easy money trade.

-Communication. At the GPC, families of OFWs can talk to their loved ones overseas using email, chat, and videoconferencing for free.

- Global Pinoy Card. This card lets OFWs and their families enjoy rewards, discounts and freebies from SM Supermalls and other partner establishments. It also grants access to the GPC lounge and to several fun events and seminars held by SM Cares.

SM Supermalls president Annie Garcia will lead the ribbon-cutting activity at the Global Pinoy Center located at the second floor followed by a program with Sinukwan dance group to be held at The Event Center of the mall.

Kapampangans formerly working abroad will be hailed by the mall as true Global Pinoys serving as inspiration for OFWs from the province.

Well-known personalities who will attend and receive the award are pool superstar Efren “Bata” Reyes, also known as The Magician; and The Dame of Philippine Fashion, Beatriz “Patis” Tesoro, leader in handicraft embroidery using Philippine indigenous fabrics.

Former OFWs are also qualified for membership. The center is already open for membership and other inquiries.

Some 50 years ago, founder and chairman of the SM Group Henry Sy redefined how Pinoys shop by putting up his first department store in Quiapo, Manila.
