ACQUITTED. Human rights activist Temogen "Cocoy" Tulawie, tagged in a bombing incident in Sulu in 2009, was acquitted by a court in Manila for lack of evidence.

POLITICS. Vice President Jejomar Binay filed on Monday a P200-million libel suit against two senators, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and several other alleged detractors, including a newspaper, before the Makati City Regional Trial Court.

WORLD. An explosion rocked the Turkish city of Suruc near the Syrian border on Monday, killing 28 people and wounding nearly 100 others in what Turkish authorities said appeared to be an Islamic State-inspired suicide bombing.
