AFTER his easy win last Saturday at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino, ALA Promotions will be pitting unbeaten Milan Melindo against a more formidable opponent this November, in Cebu City.

ALA Promotions is trying to work out a deal with former world champion Carlos Tamara for the bout.

Updates on President Benigno Aquino III's presidency

“We are negotiating with their camp. He is willing to fight Milan at 112 pounds. It will be a great fight and we can avenge our friend and countryman Brian Viloria,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu.

Tamara handed Viloria a 12-round knockout last Jan. 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

“I hope we can finalize the contract with Tamara’s camp and ABS-CBN. The fight will be great for the fans,” said Aldeguer.

The 22-year-old Melindo, who is rated No. 7 in the IBF and fifth in the WBO, knocked out Korean champion Jin Man Jeon in two rounds last Saturday in ALA Promotions’ Philippines vs. The World.

“After last night, we are looking at the flyweight division because Milan is showing more power at 112 than at 108,” said Aldeguer.

Talented youngster Jason Pagara is also set to see action on the same card.
