Chief cop bares criminals’ ‘modus operandi’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- City Government authorities and police here bared some of the most infamous “modus operandi” of criminals to warn the public as the campaign on peace and order is intensified.

Although the crime rate index of the city is reportedly low, Superintendent Eden Ugale, the city chief of police, said “this does not mean that the public should be lax in securing their hard-earned valuables and neglect their security.”

“The best way to fight crime is by preventing it to happen. Hence we are disclosing all the modus operandi of these criminals to make Fernandinos aware of them,” said Ugale.

Some of these criminal groups Ugale identified include the Akyat Bahay Gang, Bolt Cutter Gang, Salisi Gang, Budol-budol Gang, Agaw-cellphone Gang, Kalapati or Tuta Gang, Bastos Gang, and Dugo-dugo Gang.

He added one modus operandi uncovered the past weeks is the riding in tandem that snatches gold necklaces from bystanders.

Ugale is appealing to parties not to display their valuables openly in public.

He also noted the city has intensified its police visibility and presence by establishing six “visibility points” at strategic areas.

(Jovi T. De Leon)
