Capitol employee in hot water

JED de Leon, head of the Negros Occidental Government Assets Management Office (GAMO), faces administrative charges after Provincial Board Member Dr. Miller V. Serondo (second district) filed a complaint against him for alleged disrespectful attitude.

The investigating officer assigned by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to probe the alleged misbehavior of another Capitol employee towards a board member will start its investigation this week.

Serondo was allegedly subjected to the disrespectful attitude of de Leon when the Provincial Board member inquired in a meeting about some procedures and guidelines in the awarding of lots of the Provincial Government properties at Panaad and Paglaum Village, Bacolod City and in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

Serondo reportedly asked de Leon if the guidelines and procedures were followed in the awarding of the Panaad lots. Instead of answering him, Serondo alleged that de Leon pushed an application form to him and told him to see for himself if there is a vacancy.

The meeting was called by Board Member Patrick Lacson (third district), chairman of the Provincial Committee on Government Assets. Also present were Lucille Pines of the General Services Office and Dorothy Abalos who represented Board Member Pedro Zayco.

De Leon later apologized to Serondo after the meeting but Serondo said he felt the need to bring the matter to the attention of the governor.

Lawyer Joey Longno, the investigating officer assigned to conduct the probe, said that part of the investigation against de Leon will be the alleged irregularities in the awarding of lots in the Provincial Government properties.

Meanwhile, Marañon said he will wait for the investigating committee to come up with its recommendation on the case.
