Suspension order to be issued Tuesday vs CUL bus franchise (9:33 a.m.)

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will issue a suspension order on Tuesday against the franchise of the bus involved in the accident in Quezon province, a television report said.

On Sunday, five people died while 49 others where injured when a passenger bus they were riding fell off a cliff in Pagbilao, Quezon.

The CUL Bus Transport fell into a 12-foot cliff after its brake malfunctioned while the driver was negotiating a zigzag road in Maharlika Highway in Barangay Silangan Malicboy at around 2:30 a.m.

LTFRB chair Dante Lantin said the Department of Transportation and Communication is scheduled to meet with bus operators on September 1 to review how bus companies can improve their operations and maintain their facilities. (Sunnex)
