ANG 10th Infantry Division sa Philippine Army nagpahibalo nga gikapinusilay na sab sa militar ang mga rebeldeng New People's Army (NPA) didto sa Sitio Bangas, Barangay Mainit, Cateel, Davao Oriental sa alas 3:40 sa hapon niadtong Sabado.
Sa maong engkwentro, nakahipus ang militar og cellular phone, usa ka improvised explosive devise (IED) ug subersibong dokumento nga gipanag-iyahan sa Front Committee 20 sa NPA, sigun ni 10th ID Information Officer Lt. Col. Medel Aguilar sa Superbalita.
Si Aguilar nagbutyag nga ang engkwentro nahitabo dihang miresponde ang mga sundalo sa taho sa mga molupyo nga dunay mga armadong mga tawo nga nagpatrolya sa ilang barangay.
"Parents and teachers were complaining against the NPA who are recruiting young residents and students of said place to join the NPA. This information was revealed during the conduct of symposium by the 67th Infantry Battalion in the different schools and communities," ni Aguilar kinsa midugang nga ang maong grupo maoy nanghasi sa maong lugar.
Si Aguilar nagsaysay sa kagubot nga gihimo sa mga rebelde sa miaging tuig.
"On February 14 this year, they attacked the military personnel deployed to secure the road construction at the vicinity of Sigabay Village, Boston, Davao Oriental which led to the death of a 13-year old girl named Memelyn Moreno. The attack was reportedly launched by the NPA after the company undertaking the project refused to give in to the NPA's extortion demand," pahayag ni Aguilar.
Ang pagkasakmit sa IED, suma ni Aguilar, usa ka maayong balita sanglit di na kini magamit sa mga rebelde sa pagpabusikad nga posibleng ikamatay sa mga sundalo ug mga inosenteng sibilyan.
