Young girl, teenager drown

GUAGUA -- A young girl and a teener who were out for a swim at a river dike in this town drowned last Saturday.

A report from the Police Regional Office 3 identified the victims as Patricia David, 8, a resident of Barangay San Juan, Betis 2nd, Guagua; and Mario Calma, 16, a resident of Barangay San Juan Nepomuceno, Guagua.

The report said that around 9 a.m. of August 28, the two victims went to the newly constructed San Agustin River Dike located in Barangay San Agustin Betis in Guagua, and reportedly decided to go swimming.

Police investigators said that according to responding barangay officials, after a few minutes, the victims disappeared and were submerged under water and drowned.

Authorities said the victims were brought to the Rosario Memorial Hospital in Barangay San Juan but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
