BACOLOR -- Mayor Jose Maria Hizon announced Monday that he has implemented a series of reforms in the management of the Municipal Government and is implementing a host of social service programs for residents of this town as part of his good governance advocacy.
Hizon said his administration has implemented cost efficient measures like constructing an independent water source for the Municipal Hall. This in turn would reduce operational costs on water consumption by P40,000 to P50,000 in seven months, he said.
He added savings on the streamlining of telephone lines would save some additional P20, 000 for the municipality.
The mayor said his administration has also started on a series of development projects to improve roads and facilities in the town. This includes the rehabilitation of roads leading to quarry sites.
Hizon said the earnings from quarrying in the said town should be returned in terms of development projects like roads to further improve quarry operations that serve as a major revenue generating industry for Bacolor.
"By next month, we will start the rehabilitation of the Sta. Barbara Road going to San Antonio. And at the moment, we are in the process of rehabilitating the roads in Sta. Barbara and Maliwalu as a measure to improve motorist and truck routes," Hizon said.
The monthly medical missions have also been conducted since he started his term a couple of months ago.
Hizon said the medical missions are being held in resettlement areas and barangays of the town to address the medical needs of residents. He said the next stop would be at Bulaon Resettlement.
"This proves that we do not just do public service during the campaign period. We are firm in our commitment to serve our people all year-round," Hizon said. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
