Charges filed vs CUL bus driver (1:10 p.m.)

QUEZON -- The driver of a bus that fell off a cliff in Pagbilao, Quezon last week is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple injuries, radio reports said.

At the same time, the operator of the ill-fated CUL Bus Transport will be facing administrative cases after Pagbilao police found out that the company's certificate of public conveyance has already expired in March 22, 2009.

Oscar Pedrigosa, the bus driver who was immediately rushed to a hospital in Quezon province after the accident, is still recovering from what happened but will face charges, said the police.

Pedrigosa was negotiating a zigzag road in Maharlika Highway in Barangay Silangan Malicboy when the bus's brake malfunctioned, resulting in the accident that killed five people and wounded 43 others.

The bus came from Tacloban City in Leyte and was heading to Cubao in Manila when the accident happened. (Sunnex)
