The rest of the city councilors automatically became board members.

Elipe will replace Councilor Ramon Tabor as president.

The PCL election is done every three years right after the national election. At present, there are about 60,044 members of PCL in the country.

The league aims at bringing the government closer to the people and strengthen public-private sectors relations towards local development.

The PCL was organized to strengthen the rapport, camaraderie and brotherhood among local legislators as well as formulate, implement, and coordinate programs, projects and activities beneficial to the members of the league or the general welfare of the people.

The PCL also aims to promote the development of cooperatives throughout the country to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people; setup a foundation for the benefit of the members, their families and constituents.

It is also tasked to undertake fund raising projects to support its own program and objectives.

Today, the members of the Provincial Board will also hold their election of officers at the Country Village Hotel.

Based on her observation, Moreno-Salik said the election in the city was “very peaceful” compared in Luzon. She did not elaborate. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
