‘Henry’ moves away from RP (3:43 p.m.)

MANILA -- Tropical depression Henry has slightly gained speed as it moves towards Southern Japan, the state weather bureau reported Friday.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the eighth storm to enter Philippine waters is estimated at 1,050 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

No storm signals were raised.

Moving northwest at 24 kilometers per hour, Henry has maintained its strength of 55 kph near the center while enhancing southwest monsoon, bringing rains over western sections of Luzon and Visayas.

Pagasa said Henry will be at 850 km northeast of Basco, Batanes on Saturday morning or 110 km east of Okinawa, Japan. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
