MANILA -- Senator Francis Pangilinan called on the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Tuesday to end the proliferation of double-dead meat at the source before the Christmas season raises demand for meat.
“The National Meat Inspection Service cannot simply go on a cycle of raids and seizure. That will not solve the problem,” he said.
Pangilinan said the NMIS already has enough information to coordinate with the police and make arrests.
He added the NMIS should immediately shut down piggeries in Bulacan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija identified as sources of tainted meat found in Balintawak market in Quezon City. (Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
