MANILA -- President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Tuesday ordered Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz to assume jurisdiction over the rift of flag-carrier Philippine Airline (PAL) and its flight attendants.

In an ambush interview in Tagaytay, Aquino said he is tasking Baldoz, whom he appointed in Dole as permanent chief, to ensure that PAL will resolve the issue with its employees.

The directive came following another failed talks between PAL and Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines (Fasap).

“Don't panic, we are hopeful that this case will be resolved once it is submitted to the Dole,” Aquino said.

He said the failure of negotiation does not mean that flight attendants will immediately go on strike.

He noted that he is giving 30 days for Dole to mediate on ironing things out between the two parties. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
