150T run for Pasig River

A TELEVISION report said that around 150,000 people from all walks of life registered for the 10.10.10 Run for the Pasig River Sunday.

The runners for the 21-kilometer race started at 4:15 a.m. in SM Mall in Marikina City, report said.

On the other hand, runners for the 10-kilometer race started at 5:45 a.m. from Ayala Ave. corner Makati Ave. while for the five kilometers, runners started in Star City in Pasay, and in Diosdado Macapagal Avenue near the Mall of Asia for the three-kilometer runners.

All the footracers will finish off at Mall of Asia where the awarding rites will be held and a big celebration, with Kapamilya stars, awaits everyone.

With this, the National Capital Region Police Office has deployed 2,500 policemen to man the event.

Traffic enforcers have intensified their operations as traffic started to get heavy.

Among the famous personalities that were seen in the event were Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, former President Fidel Ramos and actor Piolo Pascual.

Event organizers are reportedly targeting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a foot race.

“A Run for the Pasig River” is the main project of ABS-CBN Foundation in restoring the beauty of the river and to raise consciousness among the Filipino people, especially those living in the metro.(Sunnex)
