Police release safety handbook to media

MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started distributing a safety handbook for journalists Monday.

The handbook was released to provide the media practitioners basic knowledge and practical skills necessary for them to protect themselves and their families.

Included in the handbook are tips on how to travel safely and fire safety measures, among others, television reports said.

The book titled "Handbook on Personal Security Measures for Media Practitioners" was first released to members of the PNP Press Corps based in Camp Crame.

It was developed following President Benigno Aquino III's order for the police to resolve crime incidents, particularly extrajudicial killings involving journalists.

The PNP asked the media to review the contents of the book. (Sunnex)
