MANILA -- Senators on Tuesday declined to comment on the Malacanang decision of the hostage report by the Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC) out of respect for the Executive branch.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said the decision on who is responsible for the botched August 29 hostage incident is up to "the wise discretion and assessment of the President".
“I would not want the President to question my discretion here as Senate President,” he said.
Senator Francis Escudero, for his part, said he will wait for the official copy of the final incident report before making comments.
He said there may be portions of the report that were not discussed by the President during Monday’s press conference. (Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
