MANILA -- Senator Joker Arroyo on Tuesday called the grant of presidential amnesty to Magdalo soldiers a bad example that could invite future attempts to seize power.

Arroyo said the amnesty sends the message that government condones military adventurism. “The officers and men in the uniformed service can now be comfortable in going against the government.”

He added the granting of amnesty might affect morale in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Arroyo abstained during voting on Senate Resolution 217 urging President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III to grant amnesty to the Magdalo.
