San Beda eyes dynasty

MANILA – After reclaiming the crown in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s basketball tournament, the San Beda Red Lions now trained their sights of building a dynasty in the league.

San Beda got its 15th overall title and scored its second double championship in the league since 1978 last Friday.

“If we worked as hard and possess the same determination and will like this season, anything is possible,” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim.

Lim meant it so well that even with the looming departure of skipper Borgie Hermida, the Lions could still retain the crown in their hands.

The Barako Bull-bound guard, who spent 16 of years of his life studying and playing for his alma mater, has just played his fifth and final season as a Red Lion with his fourth title and a runner-up finish to boot.

Hermida will be replaced by San Beda hotshot Baser Amer, undoubtedly the most talented, complete player ever to come out of high school this year. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
