THREE major dams in northern Luzon have opened their gates to release excess water after Super Typhoon Juan hit the region.
According to a radio report, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 6 a.m. Thursday the Magat Dam in the boundary of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Ramon, Isabela opened three gates as its water level was 193.31 meters, slightly above the 193-meter spilling level.
Ambuklao Dam in Benguet also opened four gates after its water level reached 751.05 meters, slightly below its 752-meter spilling level.
The report also said that the Binga Dam in Benguet also opened four gates as its water level reached 574.20 meters, slightly below its 575-meter spilling level. (Sunnex)
