Red Cross responds to bomb victims

MANILA -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cotabato Chapter said it has responded to the medical needs of injured victims in the blast that killed 10 people in a rural bus on Thursday.

The local chapter also provided 30 units of blood for the emergency medical treatment of the victims as well as tetanus toxoid and tetanus antibody.

As of this posting, PRC said 12 injured persons are confined in Kidapawan Hospital, eight in Amas Hospital and four in Malang District Hospital.

Likewise, 10 persons were reported dead namely, Bryan Galagan, Danding Usop Daligan, Lita Mansano, and Noriel Akmad. Six bodies are still being identified by the authorities.

The PRC said they received a report that the improvised explosive device is a cellphone-operated 81 mm mortar placed on the third to the last seat overhead bin of the said bus. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
