Voting starts in Cordillera

BAGUIO CITY -- Voting resumed Tuesday in several barangays in Abra, Kalinga and Mt. Province after it was suspended due to delays in the delivery of election paraphernalia.

Bombo Radyo reported that voters have started to troop to polling precincts in Barangay Paracelis in Natonin, Mt. Province, as well as in the villages of Tineg and Lacub in Abra, and Tinglayan in Kalinga.

Local officials said the Comelec encountered difficulties in the delivery of poll materials Monday as some roads in the provinces are still damaged due to Super Typhoon Juan, which battered northern Luzon last week.

The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Cordillera, however, started smoothly, with the police reporting no untoward incident Tuesday. (Sunnex)
