LOS ANGELES — The International box office arena heated up this past weekend with the addition of stateside hit "Paranormal Activity" and a $21.4 million gross in just 20 territories.
"Despicable Me," which opened in North America back on July 9, was the No. 2 movie with nearly $20 million in 34 international territories. With a worldwide total of nearly $450 million, "Despicable Me" has proven to be a family favorite across the globe.
"Eat Pray Love," which debuted in the U.S. in August, held its own at No. 9 and continued to enjoy some of the widest exposure on the planet. With its exotic locations and international stars Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, the film was playing in a whopping 58 territories. It earned about $7.2 million this past weekend, bringing its worldwide total to nearly $181 million.
