DFA-PCT-Medvil footfest kicks off

THE Davao Football Association (DFA)-Philippine College of Technology (PCT)-Medvil Football Festival kicks off Saturday, July 25, at the Tionko field.

DFA board member Rachelle Delos Reyes said that registered teams were already grouped into brackets for the two-day tournament backed by PCT, Medvil Farms Inc., Barangay Mintal, University of the Philippines-Mindanao, Khanj T-shirt Maker and GHT Water Refilling Station.

A total of 17 teams are seeing action in men's open division: bracket A - MIDFC-A, Ateneo de Davao University, PCT-Medvil A, Team Krushers FC and Oi Rogers; bracket B - KMMPC A, Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) A, Kidapawan FC, Fortes FC; bracket C - MidFC B, RMC B, PCT-Medvil B, Hooligans A; and bracket D - KMMPC B, New Coreela FC, Calinan FC and Hooligans B.

Ten women's squads are entered with PCT-Khanj-A, University of the Philippines (UP) A, New Corella, SOS FC and D'DS Khanj in bracket A while PCT-Khanj B, UP B, Punta del Sol, Aguilas Dabaw FC and Lady Knights FC will slug it out in bracket B.

Tambayan FC, SOS FC, Ateneo Bluye, Malita FC and SPC-A will compete in girls U16 bracket A while PCT, Aguilas Dabaw FC, Ateneo White, Hyenas FC and SPC-B are seeing action in bracket B.

The tournament also features boys U16 and boys U12 categories.

Delos Reyes said the event aims to prepare city players for upcoming line, district and unit meets leading to the Davao City Athletic Association Meet by giving them the needed exposure. (MLSA)
