Bird show highlights Hedcor's gift-giving

ELEMENTARY and high school students from three communities in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur became recipients of the gift-giving activity of Hedcor Inc. of AboitizPower during a simple ceremony held December 6-7.

Hedcor identified 1,180 elementary students and 436 high school students from the same schools as beneficiaries of t-shirts and raincoats. The gift-giving activity this year was also made more special as the company treated the students to a unique bird show experience.

The activity is in line with Hedcor's commitment to help the communities surrounding its run-of-river hydro-electric power plants. Hedcor has an existing 42.5 megawatt plant in Sibulan, Sta. Cruz, which was inaugurated by President Benigno Aquino III in September 16. The plant is contracted to supply Davao Light and Power Company with its power needs.

In 2008, Hedcor allocated P200,000 as it distributed school supplies and umbrella for students of Sibulan, Darong and Tudaya elementary schools. Students of Sibulan and Tudaya high schools, meanwhile, received slippers and bags.

Hedcor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower Corporation, is the largest developer of run-of-river hydropower plants in the Philippines owning and operating 15 mini-hydropower plants in Benguet and Davao.
