PASSENGER jeepneys in Metro Manila and provincial buses are eyeing a fare hike.
Jeepney operators want a P1 increase in the minimum fare from P7 to P8.
Bus operators, on the hand, want a P0.50 per kilometer increase in fares as new toll rates at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX) took effect January 1.
The operators also cited the P40 peso flagdown rate increase and the additional P3.50 per kilometer rates of taxi cabs.
Meanwhile the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board clarified that only taxi cabs that issue meter receipts can implement the said fare increases. (Sunnex)
