MANILA -- The articles of impeachment against Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez will be brought to the Senate early Wednesday afternoon.
Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Farinas told Sun.Star that he, Iloilo Representative Niel Tupas Jr., and other members of the House will personally bring the articles to the Senate at around 2:30 p.m.
Tupas is the chairman of the House Justice committee that voted to find basis to have Gutierrez impeached. Farinas is the vice chairman of the committee.
Both are members of the team that will prosecute the Ombudsman when the Senate convenes as an impeachment court in May.
The Senate, meanwhile, is expected to finish deliberations on, and adopt the rules of impeachment by Wednesday afternoon. (Kathrina Alvarez/Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
