FARMERS and fishermen are now covered under the fuel subsidy program of President Benigno Aquino III’s administration.
Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala said Tuesday he already submitted to Energy Secretary Rene Almendras their masterlist of the beneficiaries of the program.
“Nai-submit na namin sa office ni Secretary Almendaras yung listahan ng mga makina na nagko-consume ng petroleum products," he said during a press briefing in Malacañang.
The administration initially allotted P450 million to assist jeepney and tricycle operators and now including fishermen and farmers.
The fund will be sourced from the special account in the general fund of the Department of Energy.
He expected that the program be implemented within the next two weeks. (Sunnex)
